The Innovation of Sa'ad Nomani Empty The Innovation of Sa'ad Nomani

Post by Yasmin Fri Jun 06, 2008 9:12 am

as-Salaamu 'alaykum.

I've just edited this post and i'd like to everyone to read the below post, which is by a student of knowledge:

"Discussing the method of Sad Nomani would be a lengthy discussion, but I would like to suffice by mentioning a few pieces of evidences and events that prove that his method is against the Shariah.

We ask Allah to return him to the truth as soon as possible.

This person has brought a new thing, which is the copying of the voices of Imams and recitors. This method, in which it seems he is a specialist, has not been heard from anyone before him.

There are evidences in the Quran and the statements of the jurists and the recitors that prove his method to be prohibited and a clear innovation.

The Quran says: "Do they not ponder over the Quran?"

So any recitation that is not performed with the intention of contemplation or education (which leads to contemplation) is in contradiction with this verse. [Sad Nomani's recitations are nothing to do with contemplation and everything to do with voice itself.]

The Quran says: "Say: Is it Allah, His verses and His Messenger that you are making a mockery of?"

Some reliable people informed me that Sad Nomani reads a verse in the voice of one Imam and another in the voice of another (and I think these two were Abdurrahman al-Sudais and Sa'ud al-Shuraim, Imams of al-Masjid al-Haraam). I did not believe them until I heard this with my own ears. Some of them told me that he perpertrated this in prayer! Where would be the humility required in prayer for him or for those reading behind him? This is most definitely one of the malpractices of this copier.

It is necessary to warn the people from thinking that this is something good. If this is not a mockery [of the Quran], then what else could be as such? Also, consider that there are acts that are way below this yet they are considered to be a mockery of the Shariah.

I have also heard him imitate Muhammad bin Subayyil, the elderly Imam of al-Masjid al-Haraam. Some people laugh when he imitates him, which is equal to making people make a mockery, not only of the Quran, but of and elderly Imam which is backbiting in the least - whether he agrees with this or not, whether he knows about this or not.

From the statements of the jurists is what the Hanbalis have narrated from Ahmed bin Hanbal regarding recitation in beautified voices: "It is an innovation that should not be listened to. I do not like anything new, unless if he possess a naturally beautiful voice like that of Abu Musa (al-Ash'ari, as he had a nice voice without exaggerating)".

This copier has brought forth a new thing in religion which was not present in our predecessors.

Ibn Muflih states in al-Furoo': "A few scholars [of the school have narrated from Ahmed]:" ... unless if he can beautify the Quran without exaggerating"."

I once heard the copier - when I didn't know about him - in a mosque I had come to prayer for. After half an hour, he complained about his throat. He ceased to copy (I do not like to say recitation) on the pulpit in front of the people for a minute or two. It is obvious that this pain came about as a result of exaggerating which is undesirable or prohibited by consensus, never mind when it is coupled with imitation to which Ahmed classified as an innovation.

According to the Malikis, al-Abdari narrates in al-Taj from Ibn Rushd: "Malik disliked it because it is an innovation, because they are seeking the mere voice just like in songs (i.e. there is no contemplation involved in such recitation, in addition to the fact that he contradicts the rules of reciting due to the difference of Imams and recitors).

Ibn al-Qasim said: "Malik was asked about beautified voices in prayer. He replied: "I don't like it. I consider it to be a grave issue. This is singing by which they take dirhmas [from people]"."

According to the Hanafis, al-Jassaas says in Mukhatsar Iktilaaf al-Ulamaa: "Ibn Wahb said: Malik was asked about a group of people in the mosque asking a person with a good voice to read for them, wanting to listen to his good voice. He disliked it and said: "It is like singing"."

The people who come to hear him only come to listen to his imitation of others, not to contemplate in the Quran, and this element is enough to establish that it is similar to songs.

From the statements of the recitors is what al-Dhahabi in Siyar A'laam al-Nubalaa narrated from Hamza al-Zayyaat, one of the seven Imams of recitation: "Recitation has a limit upon which it ceases, then it would become unattractive".

However, this copier has has reached a level of unattractiveness that sane-minded souls would become surprised at. It was necessary for him that he limited himself to his own voice, but not only did he stop at one or two recitors, he just had to imitate at least seventy [and now a hundred] for some reason. We ask Allah for immunity from such misdeeds. All praises are due to Allah who protected us from He tested him with and preferred us over much of His creation.

So brothers, do not fall into the trap of the foam of the Ummah, or those islamic broadcasts that cannot hold back airing out incorrect practices, or laypersons who praise this person when in fact they have no knowledge of what is in the Quran or what the Salaf said in relation to the reality of this so-called specialty that he invented for himself, by which he has deceived himself alongside ignorant laymen as well as recitors who come to his sittings and read with him. Those who have failed to prevent him from this misdeed having this knowledge would have committed a mistake as well [were they in a position to do so].

May Allah grant us the ability. If I said the truth, it was from Allah. If not, it was from myself and Satan..."

The Innovation of Sa'ad Nomani Empty Re: The Innovation of Sa'ad Nomani

No...The issue is more complicated than that. The Prophet alayhi salaatu wa salaam actually said: “Beautify the Qur'an by your voices.” (Ahmad, Ibn Majah, An-Nasa'i and Al-Hakim who said it is Sahih) and this only truly happens when one learns the practical component of tajweed and not take singing classes or such.

The issue here is Sa'ad nomani, who imitates voices of other RECITORS and he's not reciting from his natural voice (Which is quite nice, mashaAllah)...and this imitation is wrong! Insha Allah read it again and i'm sure you will understand, inshaa Allah!
