Muslim Legal Network Empty Muslim Legal Network

Post by adhnan Wed Apr 02, 2008 3:06 am

Assalamu alaikum my dear brothers and sisters,

I write to you on behalf of the Muslim Legal Network an organization comprising of Muslim Legal professionals and Law students who

  • Strive ethically towards protecting the civil liberties and human rights of Muslims living in Australia including the right to freedom of religion and expression.

Fearlessly advocate against laws or the introduction of laws that oppress Australian Muslims including laws permitting racial, ethnic or religious profiling, laws which infringe on the right to due process and habeas corpus, the right to a fair trial free of prejudice, the right to the presumption of innocence and the right to silence.

Work diligently towards building a better understanding of the Islamic faith within the wider Australian community through the development of various bodies, projects and dialogue and providing assistance to other Islamic organisations.

Empower Muslims to become law abiding, productive and respected members within the wider Australian community.

Lobby the Federal Government in relation to Australian foreign policy which affects the Muslim world and with the Government to build better relations between Australia and its Muslim neighbours.

Lobby for the promotion of responsible and accountable government in Australian and the greater Muslim world.

Lobby State and Federal Governments to divert more resources to research of Islamic jurisprudence.

Create a framework in which Muslim legal practitioners and law students can network, provide mentoring, support and advice regarding our profession.

I encourage every Muslim law student or lawyer to join this network for the sake of Allah, for the sake of our Ummah and finally for the sake of your self.

You can either join the Muslim Legal Network mailing list
