Advice to the Muslim Community Empty Advice to the Muslim Community

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

We praise Allaah, the most worthy of praise. There is no deity worthy of worship but He, and He has Power over all things. We ask Him to bless the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad His servant and Messenger (صلي الله عليه وسلم).

This is a message of sincere advice from the Ahl Sunnah wal Jama'ah Association of Australia to you. An overseas speaker by the name of Habib Umar has recently arrived in Australia and is giving a series of lectures around the country. We believe that he is promoting certain views on the fundamental and critical issues of Islam that are contrary to the Shariah.

Please click here: http://www.aswjmedia.com.au/habibumar/ and see a number of beliefs shared by Habib Umar that are not sanctioned by the Shariah.

Our aim is not to attack a particular individual, rather it is intended to protect the believers from falling into erroneous beliefs and actions.

All Praise is due to Allaah, Lord of the worlds, and may His Peace and Blessings be upon the Messengers and Prophets, and upon the final Messenger, Muhammad (صلي الله عليه وسلم), his family and companions.

Wasalamu Aliakum Wa Rahmatuallah

ASWJ

It's not slander at all. Allaah ta'aala says in the Qur'an:

كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah (Surat Aali-Imraan)

As Muslims we have a duty to warn others about evil and to stop evil in every possible way. One of the Salaf talked about the ill fate of those who believe they won't be affected if they sit or even don't deal with the adherent of bid'ah: It is reported from Sufyân Al-Thawrî – Allah have mercy on him – that he said:

A person who sits with a heretic (an adherent of bid’ah) will not escape one of three things:

Either he will become a trial (fitnah) for others, or some deviation will occur in his heart and he will slip and be cast into the Fire by Allah, or he will say to himself, ‘By Allah, I don’t care what they say, I am confident about myself;’ but whoever feels secure from Allah about his religion even for the blinking of an eye, Allah will take his religion away from him.

Ibn Waddâh, Al-Bida’ p125.

Also see this:

If a person is known for his evil deeds and he openly commits major sins such as drinking alcohol etc. and we advise others to keep away from him and to avoid dealing with him, is this permissible?

Praise be to Allaah.

Warning others about a person who does evil and commits major sins is obligatory (waajib). If a Muslim fears that his brothers may be harmed by those people’s actions, he must advise them and tell them about these evildoers, so that no one will fall into their trap. It is also obligatory to advise the evildoers and those who commit major sins, so that perhaps Allaah may guide them. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Religion is sincerity” They said, “To whom, O Messenger of Allaah?” He said, “To Allaah and to His Book, to His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their common folk.”

(Narrated by Muslim from the hadeeth of Tameem ibn Aws al-Daari (may Allaah be pleased with him).

Fataawaa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, 12/375-376
