Prayer room access

Assalamu alaikum,

Apologies if this has already been asked.

I will be attending LaTrobe in semester 2 and I need to know if there are any specific codes required to access the prayer room and wudu area..?

Firstly, welcome to the forum sis

The Prayer Rooms at Latrobe are currently being renovated and will be ready early November insha Allah. But, there will be temporary prayer rooms for next semester, insha Allah and the Islamic Society will notify everyone about them.

welcome, we dont actually have a prayer room next semester becuase it is getting renovated but we will have a permanent room to pray in inshaalha.

Not too sure, but insha Allaah if there are, I'll notify you. Also, ukhti - I believe it's more of a semester break in 2 weeks for the majority of students, so they should be empty rooms around the campus to sneak in and pray insha Allah.

If you PM me where your lect/tutes are, insha Allah we can guide you to appropriate rooms where you can pray.

Yes i agree with you Jamie, but what can we do. we just have to be patient because we are gonna have a better prayer room inshaallah.

I'm not too sure sis, but inshaa Allaah I will confirm. Have you been able to find empty rooms to pray in? khayr inshaa Allaah.

I haven't started classes as yet. I was originally planning on studying Information Systems (classed started about 2 weeks ago) but I decided to go for another course. InshaAllaah ill be enrolling tomorrow for Arts.

Please let me know once the prayer room has been allocated.

As of yet no temporary prayer room has been allocated. The University is still looking into this with high priority, and have beenin contact with me regarding the issue. Thwe problem they are having is in finding a room that is free for enough time to accomodate for the prayers which fall into uni time (Dhuhr, Asr, Magrib). If it were simply a matter of having a room for one or two hours per day, the problem would have been solved long ago. However, one or two hours a day is not sufficient for us, and would leave alot of people at risk of missing their prayers while at uni, so I've advised them to find a room to accomodate for those three prayers.

Inshallah we hope they will be able to find a solution by the beginning of Semester 2.

In the meantime, there are two rooms accross from the prayer room which are free for us to use. They're in the Journalism Building (I think that's what it's called), Rooms 212 and 214. They are remaining open throughout the holidays for us to use, and are completely empty, so please use these until temporary rooms can be found. And please make dua that they find some rooms soon.
